New research shows primary languages on the rise!

The latest report from NFER, published in June 2008, indicates that 84% of English primaries now teach a foreign language

NACELL Regional Support Groups (RSGs) in London

There are 6 RSGs in the London area. Each of these RSGs run five free twilight meetings a year for people involved in the planning and delivery of the KS2 languages entitlement -  30 meetings across the city open to all!

The Primary Languages Training Zone

The training zone for teaching and learning languages at KS2! The website offers on-line CPD for teachers, trainers and leaders. You will find practical support for primary languages through freely accessible and flexible online training which can be used as part of local or regional training initiatives and individual CPD. The site is aimed at both specialists and non-specialists who are introducing, or already teaching, any language at Key Stage 2.

Training opportunities

 

Comenius London runs a range of training opportunities for KS2 and early years teachers. Our CPD programme is publicised on our training and events page.

CILT, the National Centre for Languages runs funded residential courses abroad for teachers in KS2.

 

 

KS2 - KS3 Transition

 

The first phase of DCSF commissioned transition project that began in April 2007 is complete and now is entering its second phase with 8 new partners, including 2 from London. New areas of focus for 2008/09 include SEN; Community languages; Gender; Intercultural understanding.
